I have Windows 7 already installed and I'd like to avoid formatting everything if I could. Could I use windows to partition free space on my hard drive and then format that free space to Mac OS journaled? And if so would windows or OS X boot by default? And if so how would I change that to the OS X partition to use chameleon boot loader?

Thanks in advance.

Well that's not an option because I definitely need windows. Dual booting is a must.

I've got like 3 spare drives lying around finally one of the answer I've been looking for. I'm Pretty sure my specs can run OSX:

MSI 880g e-45// AMD Chipset
GTX 460
8gb Ram
Phenom II x4 955 BE
only problem is the only guide I found for installing OSX uses nawcoms CD which has been D/C. I plan on putting the OS on a "Internal turned External" drive and then switching the boot order for whenever I want mac and 7. So In a nutshell switch from SATA to AHCI and install the OS on a newly formatted drive(What format should the drive be in).
