Kernel Panic on 10.6.4 update from 10.6.2

I followed the steps here viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1243 but during the restart I got a kernel panic error after installing a new patched kernel 10.4.0 from link http://nawcom.com/osx86/files/10.6/Kern ... .0.pkg.zip. I am unsure how to revert back to my previous kernel or even my next step to take to fix this issue. Any and all help is appreciated right now.

I followed these steps when upgrading from 10.6.2 ===> 10.6.3 and then to 10.6.4 and always worked:

sudo -s
cp /mach_kernel /bak_kernel
cp -R /System/Library/Extensions /ext_bak

Ensure to have a Disabler beeing installed - i.e. Disabler.kext or NullCPUPowermanagment.kext - there are even patched Kernels with integrated Disabler, but it doesn't hurt your System to have both.

Download and apply the Update & reboot

Boot your System using "/bak_kernel -v" on the bootprompt.

Delete new Vanilla Kernel and replace it with your legacy kernel:

sudo -s
rm /mach_kernel
mv /bak_kernel /mach_kernel

since you already installed the vanilla kernel, not sure how you can get back without doing a re-install. Maybe someone can point you how to avoid having to do a reinstall.

Thanks for the help. I will go through the whole process again if nobody else chimes in over the next day or 2.

You can go straight from Server 10.6.2 to Server 10.6.4 using that step by step you followed, but you just need to download the Server 10.6.4 Combo and NOT the one thats in that post

I followed the same step by step to get my server set up onto 10.6.4

I got the following message during install the update on 10.6.4. "Mac OS X Server update combined can't be install on this disk. This volume does not meet requirements for this update" Please advise.

Are you running Server 10.6.2 to start with?? And also did you download your update from here http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1051

Sorry, I'm new to MacOS Hazard... Could anyone explain me what Disabler refers to and how can I check if it is installed or install it at all. I want to upgrade from 10.6.2 to 10.6.4 version.
