what you need.
hardware
new broadcom wifi card
external usb cd rom drive that reads dvds + cds thats got its own power source
external screen thats not a tv ideally an lcd computer screen
software
iatkos s3 (10.6.3 only)
Hazard 10.6.2
ubuntu lts (long term support) i had 10.04.03 or whatever.
all the above is to be burned to disk slowly at 2 or 4 speed in img burn or your flave cd dvd burner.
next for mac osx you will need chameleon wizard and the latest kext utility for x32bit.
now as we have a windows xp bios that comes with the machine the bios is good to start with do not upgrade it if you did then downgrade back via the toshiba website.
change your bios settings by hitting F2 and make sure that you have sata only not enhanced mode and leave legacy usb on or enabled for whatever reason its ok on this machine.
next once you have saved the bios settings in windows xp do shut down, now while off plug on your external screen and your external cd dvd rom, now turn it back on and hit F12 and choose to boot from cd dvd rom not usb memory and not hdd etc just cd dvd rom.
put the hazard 10.6.2 in the cd dvd rom, at darwin you can type in -x -f -F -v if you want to but i dont believe you need to !
now once you have chosen your language go to disk utility in the top menu and partition your selected hdd up with 3 partitions and name them "Macintosh HD" 1
"Windows" 2 and just "Linux" 3 now make sure under options or advanced that you choose MBR or Master Boot Record and apply your changes. next you need to also make sure that mac partition is in mac osx extended journaled and the other 2 are ntfs then choose:
- Mac_OS_X_10.6.2
- Boot_Loaders_Intel_Only are :
- Chameleon_RC3_PCEFI_10.5
- Kernels are :
- Intel_Atom_10.2.0
- Laptop_Support are:
- VoodooBattery
- VoodooPS2Trackpad
- System_Support are:
- SATA_ATA_Fix are:
+ AHCI_SATA_fix
+ Legacy_AHCI_SATA_Fix
+ LegactAppleIntelPIIXATA
+ IOATAFamily_Fix unsure about this one
-and finally SMBIOSResolver
any thing else thats your choice at the bottom should only effect the amount of space used. skip the cd dvd checker and finish the install.
now that thats done, boot to your mac osx desktop and turn off the machine.
(follow magic foxes guide on updating to 10.6.8.)
take out the hazard 10.6.2 disk and put the windows 7 disk in boot from it and you select your language etc and you do not choose upgrade you choose custom and advanced method to install windows 7, then you select the windows partition you made while in mac osx setup. you should not be able to install windows 7 to it untill you hit format the windows partition with the windows 7 disk now you can install it as normal. make sure that it is fully upto date with sp1 etc all needed updates then turn off the machine and insert the ubuntu cd after taking out the windows 7 disk.
at this point you cannot see mac anymore because of installing windows thats okay for now.
boot from the ubuntu disk and choose try ubuntu, on your desktop on your desktop is an icon saying install ubuntu click it and install ubuntu when selecting your partition to install to select manually install thats im portant, now click on linux partition and click change, format the partition to ext4 journaled its at the top of the format list click on forward making sure that you actually click the format check box and then the ext4 from the drop down menu mount point should be just "/" so now click forward the gui should then update then click forward again a msg pops up saying that swap wasnt done click continue.
when you get to importing things do not import anything then in the scree after import click advanced now change where the boot loader gets installed to, to make the ubuntu installer put the boot loader into where the linux is so basically you tell the install to put the grub2 on the same partition as ubuntu for me i installed ubuntu to sda3 so your sda and then the number of the ubuntu partition that was shown in the previous windows click next or forward wait till the install is finished and then you click reboot.
now all that works is windows 7. mac osx and ubuntu do not work
now you can see all boot partitions, boot the macintosh hdd or the mac partition and use chameleon wizard to reinstall chameleon again. but first make sure that you tick the small tick box and then go to the top option and click that. make sure its on the mac drive not windows or linux. it should be at the bottom and have selected the mac by default hit istall and then remove the cd dvd of iatkos and reboot you should see then latest chameleon and be able to select your partitions.
tip in chameleon wizard you can apply themes
tip take full control of the extra folder and whats in the extra folder and remove the timeout 5 setting also you should now not need a password when editing stuff in chameleon wizard.
tip mac osx will need the screen drivers and sound drivers
tip for windows 7 and ubuntu you dont need the external screen
tip you can set the screen rez and theme too in the chameleon wizard. your thoughts !
